My brother died in Life Esidimeni - I want to know what happened

19 March 2018, 11:54

Good day, my name is Florence Soko.

We as a family lost my younger brother. His name is Edward Toti Soko and he was also moved to Life Esidimeni. He is also a part of the other family members who lost their loved ones.

It was very sad every time I visited my brother, seeing him I felt like I could take him home with me.

He was not properly looked after: he had not been given food or baths. Sometimes when I visited I used to bring a wet face towel and wipe him. I cut his nails.

You could tell that he was not getting any medical attetion and when I fed him with the food that I used buy for him he ate like he had went months without getting food or water.

Everytime I left him at Life Esidimeni I could tell from his face that he wanted to say something but he couldn't speak because of his condition. It was a shame. I would stand outside and cry thinking about my younger brother but the people who worked in the hospital pretended as if they were looking after him. But they did not.

The last time they called they told us that Edward Toti Soko had died. It was a trauma for my mom and my dad.

We loved him so much, even though he was in that condition.

When we asked them what happened they told us he died a natural death. I want you to think about it and tell me if it makes sense.

We want to know. We, the SOKO family want to know what happened to my younger brother.
