Johannesburg - Commercials by tech companies dominated South Africans’ most favourite TV advert lists, according to global research agency Kantar Millward Brown. 

During the last quarter of 2017, Samsung’s Knox Seagull commercial advertising the company’s software security, by the bird stealing a phone, was rated by the agency as the country’s favourite TV advert.

Vodacom’s Meg your day advert, where customers get up to 1GB of free data every day, scooped SA’s second most favourite ad award. 

Samsung made a second appearance on the top ten list for the last quarter of 2017, with the Galaxy Note 8: Infinity display commercial at number 9.

During the third quarter of 2017, tech companies continued to rank among the country’s favourite adverts with Vodacom’s Bra Shakes ad taking first place and MTN’s Mic Drop ad coming in second, with two other MTN ads coming in eighth and ninth.

Cell C, ABSA and FNB all also made appearances on the list.
