PROVIDENCE -- The Providence Bruins scored three times in the first 12 minutes and Zane McIntyre made 44 saves in a 4-1 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Sunday afternoon.

Austin Czarnik, who is tied for second in scoring in the American Hockey League with 21 goals and 60 points in 53 games, paced the P-Bruins with a goal and an assist.

The P-Bruins opened the scoring 40 seconds into the game. The play started when 20-year-old Trent Frederic, Boston's first-round pick in 2016, won an offensive zone faceoff back to Tommy Cross at the blueline. Cross passed across to defense partner Connor Clifton, whose long shot beat Kristers Gudlevskis (39 saves). It was the first point as a pro for Frederic, who last week left the University of Wisconsin after his sophomore season to sign with Boston.

Czarnik made it 2-0 with a power-play goal at 8:18. Kenny Agostino and Paul Postma assisted.

At 11:52, Jordan Szwarz took a pass from Czarnik and put Providence ahead by three. Ryan Fitzgerald was credited with the second assist.

John Stevens put Bridgeport on the board 16 seconds into the second period.

Providence regained its three-goal lead on Jakub Zboril's goal at 15:55 of the second. He took a pretty pass from Josh Hennessy and rifled the puck past Gudlevskis. Cameron Hughes, a 2015 sixth-round pick from Wisconsin who also signed this week, was credited with the second assist for his first pro point in his third game.

The P-Bruins will be home for games against first-place Lehigh Valley on Friday and Saturday.
