I totally agree with the well written letter from Frank Maura ["NRA must not be the people’s voice," Feb. 26].
As a young man, I hunted with a .22 rifle and a 16 gauge shotgun — both only single shot. I hunted only because my family was very poor and lots of our food came from hunting and fishing.
While in the U.S. Navy in the combat zone of wartime Korea, I was a gunner on a 20mm twin-barrel anti-craft gun. That was only to destroy any foe that tried to sink our ships. I don't need that gun today.
All assault weapons should be banned. They are not needed for hunting but only to kill as many people as possible. That gun should be possessed and used only by law enforcement and the military.
I am a moderate Republican but please vote out all of the political lackeys who oppose banning assault weapons.
