A man has been rushed to hospital after he was reportedly injured in a fire at a Perth auto-shop on Monday morning.

The fire started just after midday near Precision Automatic Transmissions on Ruse Street in Osborne Park.

The area was evacuated due to concerns regarding around 20,000 litres of motor oil and other dangerous chemicals inside the shop.

St John attended the scene, and treated two men for unknown injuries.

One man was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital on priority, after it was found he had been seriously burned by the fire from the waist up.

According to 6PR reporter Jake Battrick, witnesses said the man was seriously burned on his head and face, and neighbouring business owners and staff used their own hoses to hose him down.

The other man was treated for minor burns.

It's understood nearby workers were allowed back into the Osborne Park area around 1pm but Ruse Street remains cordoned off.

WA Police and WorkSafe have now been called to the scene, and emergency services were forced to activate an urban search and rescue to help locate anyone still trapped in the workshop.

All workers have now been accounted for.

Around 50 frefighters are still fighting the blaze, and it is currently still out-of-control.

There is excessive smoke in the area, and emergency services have warned motorists to avoid Ruse Street.

The smoke is expected to spark a smoke alert.
