In what is probably a first, people from within the tribal community working as instructors to raise literacy levels among their people will come together in the city this week for a training programme in social security.
The training, to be held on Friday and Saturday, is being conducted as part of Navachethana, a comprehensive project launched by the Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority to bring the tribal population into the mainstream.
350 participants
As many as 350 instructors selected from 100 tribal settlements (one instructor from each settlement) with the least literacy in the State and those leading special literacy campaigns in Attappaddy and Wayanad will attend the training.
The trainers are those who have cleared Class 10.
The training will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday.
