BBC Weather: Shock warning major roads 'IMPOSSIBLE' to travel on due to HEAVY SNOW
POLICE have called on travellers in Cornwall and Devon to delay their journeys until "mid-morning" as weather conditions turn from "passable" to "impossible" due to heavy snow pummeling the region.
The Devon and Cornwall Police warned commuters to only travel "if they have" as roads become "impossible to travel on" due to heavy snow.
Cars have been stuck on the A30 overnight as the second huge snowfall in a month brings the south-west to a standstill.
BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker said: "More than 80 drivers have been stranded overnight in Devon. This is after a 64-mile stretch of a major road in the south-west of England – that’s the A30 – was shut due to heavy snow.
"Police are saying conditions are changing rapidly from passable to impossible and officers are asking people in Devon and Cornwall to delay travelling until mid-morning at the earliest today."

Police asked motorists to move their vehicles to the side of the road to enable police and gritters to get through to assist.
Commuters have been urged to check their routes before they set off across the country on Monday.
The Devon and Cornwall Police said on Twitter: "Road traffic accidents are now starting to be reported to us by those insisting on driving this morning, #M54 at #SampfordPeverell is icy, delay your journey and slow down.
"#A30 #DevonCornwall closed, significant snow that highways are working to clear, if you're already on it drive with caution as conditions are variable changing rapidly from passable to impossible, if not on it DELAY YOUR JOURNEY until midmorning at the earliest."

BBC News weather forecaster Sarah Keith-Lucas, said: “It is a cold start to the day, certainly. We’ve got a lot of lying snow around the country. A lot of ice around too.

“Ice is going to be more of a problem today as well. Because what we will see is some of that snow just starting to thaw out a little bit through the day and then refreeze once the sun sets overnight.
“So I think we are not out of the woods just yet in terms of the disruption down to the wintery weather."
The chaos continues as Britain’s train lines face further delays and cancellations. South Western Railway is facing minor delays for trains after problems caused by the adverse weather conditions.

There are also train cancellations to the following services: Weymouth and Westbury; Exeter St Davids and Exmouth; Exeter St Davids and Barnstaple; Berwyn and Reading; Swindon and Gloucester; Hereford and Oxford.
Flights were also cancelled over the weekend and could continue into Monday. Gatwick Airport wrote on Twitter: “We apologise to all passengers who have been delayed or had flights cancelled tonight, this is due to the prolonged cold snap and the essential de-icing requirements which have mounted during the afternoon and evening. Please contact your airline for the latest information.”
Exeter Airport have also urged passengers of Flybye and TUI to see flight information on the airline’s website before travelling.
