The demand for making Gairsain the permanent State Capital gaining momentum once again ahead of the Assembly session in Gairsain, a number of people under the banner of Gairsain Rajdhani Nirman Abhiyan (GRNA) carried out Jan Chetna rally to the Vidhan Sabha building in Dehradun on Sunday.
Raising slogans, the rallymarched from Araghar to the Vidhan Sabha building and later the memebers also met Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, submitting a memorandum to him on the demand for establishing the permanent State capital in Gairsain.
In the memorandum, the GRNA members appealed the state government to declare Gairsain as the permanent capital of Uttarakhand State on the first day of the budget session of the Assembly to be held in Gairsain from Tuesday.
They also demanded that areas within 50 kilometre radius of Gairsain should be demarcated as state capital area followed by drafting of master plan for the area by the State Government.
The GRNA members warned that they would protest at Gairsain on the first day of the assembly session if state government does not declare Gairsain as permanent state capital of the state.
One of the protesters, Sachin Thapliyal said that the youth of the State favoured Gairsain as the state capital and would not tolerate protracted delay in taking a decision on this issue. “We will intensify our protest across the state if the state government fails to declare Gairsain the permanent capital of the State during assembly session,” he warned.
The protesters said that the movement in support of making Gairsain the permanent State capital witinue across Uttarakhand and would be intensified during the Vidhan Sabha session to be held at Gairsain from March 20.
