Will get demands resolved by the State government: Joint Action Committee

In view of ongoing SSC examinations and possible disruption to services in IT sector in the city, the Telangana Cab Drivers Joint Action Committee has decided not to support the strike call given by drivers of Ola and Uber from across the country over alleged non-payment of dues, starting Monday.

The cab drivers said they will get their demands resolved by the State government rather than participating in the strike, which would hit their livelihood. “Bandh is not the ultimate solution to resolve our demands. Many drivers have sold the jewellery of their mother and wife to purchase the cars and work in partnership with Ola and Uber. We have to repay the monthly loans,” said Santosh Reddy, chairman of the committee.

He said that over 1.20 lakh cab drivers in the city will not take part in the strike.

“Soon, we are planning to meet Transport Minister P. Mahender Reddy, top officials of the Transport department and cab aggregators to submit a representation of our demands,” said Satti Reddy, general secretary, Telangana Cab Owners Association.
