The first day of spring will bring anything but warm weather to western Pennsylvania, according to officials at the National Weather Service in Moon Township.
A light dusting of snow is expected to coat grassy surfaces Tuesday morning, meteorologist Fred McMullen said. Despite colder than average temperatures, Tuesday morning snow isn’t expected to stick around for long on the warming March ground.
More snow is expected, however. Tuesday night into Wednesday morning could bring an accumulation to Beaver County. A low pressure system could bring through some accumulation, though McMullen said it’s difficult to exactly how much will fall. Any accumulation will likely melt throughout the day Wednesday, he said.
Temperatures will hold steady in the mid-30s, and it’s expected to dip below freezing at night on Tuesday and Wednesday. McMullen said cold temperatures and melting snow could make area roads slick.
“There’s going to be no signs of spring,” he said.
Cold weather will hold throughout the week, with a chance for snow and rain this coming Saturday.
