KU youth fest begins today

Kollam: The five-day-long Kerala University Youth Festival 2018 will be begin here on Tuesday.
The festival will be inaugurated on Tuesday evening by the minister for local self-government K T Jaleel at the SN College grounds, which is the main venue, and has been christened ONV Nagar.

A cultural procession, in which about 10,000 students from various colleges in and around Kollam city will participate, will precede the inaugural function.


The procession will commence from the Covent Junction and culminate at the main venue. As many as 5,000 students from more than 250 colleges affiliated to the Kerala University will be competing. Festival reception committee chairman K N Balagopal told media persons that competitions of the festival will be held in 9 venues.


The other eight venues are named after Madavoor Vasudevan, V Sambasivan, K P Appan, G Devarajan, O Madhavan, Kakanadan, Jayapala Panikkar and Bharat Murali. The festival media centre set up at the SN College is named after Gauri Lankesh. The venues include Fatima Mata National College, Sree Narayana College for Women, TKM Arts College, Sree Narayana Guru Law College, Fatima Memorial Training College and the Karbala Trust Hall.


An exhibition of photographs clicked by press photographers of Kollam will also be held at the venue. The valedictory function will be held in the evening on March 24 at the main venue.
