A 13-year-old student drowned in the Ganga Canal (Gangnahar) near Pathri power house on Sunday morning. The minor Akshat Chauhan hailed from Salempur village under the jurisdiction of Ranipur police station. He was a student of Class VI and had gone with his friends to play near the canal.
It is learnt that Akshat slipped into the canal while playing and his friends informed his parents at home. On receiving the information, water police personnel reached the spot. Even after hours of rescue operation, the boy could not be saved nor could his body be recovered. The search was continuing till the time of this report being filed.
