Ian Wright urges Liverpool to sign Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld to help Arsenal

ARSENAL legend Ian Wright wants Liverpool to sign Toby Alderweireld to weaken Tottenham and help the Gunners.

Alderweireld has been linked with an exit from Tottenham, with his contract expiring in the summer of 2018.

Firmly with his Arsenal hat on, Wright says Liverpool signing the Belgian defender would give Arsene Wenger’s side a better chance of beating Spurs.

“I’m just interested, I can’t wait to see Liverpool’s business in the summer,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I’m so excited about that. I think they are a couple away, a couple away.

“They’ve got to get a goalkeeper, I think another centre-half.

“Toby Alderweireld, get him from Tottenham so he can weaken them and Arsenal can do a little bit more against them.”

Liverpool are currently third in the Premier League table, 18 points adrift of leaders Manchester City who have played a game more.

But Wright fully believes Jurgen Klopp’s side can challenge City next season with the right additions.

Liverpool, for me, they’re the ones who when you look at the way Man City are playing, you can see they’re going to continue because that manager does not ease off,” the pundit added.

“That manager is in the fast lane man, his pedal is to the metal.

“I think Liverpool and the way Klopp is and the energy of Liverpool’s side, a couple more signings and I think they’re the ones going to chase them down properly.”
