CPI(M) exhorts T.N. parties to back no-confidence motion against BJP

CPI(M) State general secretary K. Balakrishnan on Sunday appealed to all political parties in Tamil Nadu to throw their weight behind the no-confidence motion moved by the TDP and the YSRCP against the BJP-led Central government.

The AIADMK, which had the maximum number of MPs from Tamil Nadu, should support the motion and vote against the BJP government, he said.

The BJP’s “dictatorial attitude” was illustrated by the fact that the States’ rights were being infringed upon, and the BJP was increasingly attempting to centralise power. Strong opposition to such moves need to be conveyed, he said.

“With regard to Tamil Nadu, despite a Supreme Court order on the constitution of the Cauvery Management Board, the Centre is enacting a drama and the Prime Minister has refused to meet an all-party delegation,” he noted.

Mr. Balakrishnan called on all the parties in Tamil Nadu that have MPs to unite and vote against the BJP government to convey the opposition of the people of the State against it. “The AIADMK in particular, having the maximum number of MPs from Tamil Nadu, needs to support the no-confidence motion. Otherwise, it will be a betrayal of the people of the State,” the CPI(M) leader said.
