Peeved at the delay in settling matters related to the recognition of private primary and middle schools, the Director, Rajya Shiksha Kendra, has instructed the DEOs and DPCs to settle all matters before  March 31.

It is learnt that no decision has yet been taken on 5100 applications for recognition of primary and middle schools for the academic session 2018-2019.

Out of the 5100, 144 cases are pending in Gwalior alone. It is learnt that those schools that have not got their recognition will have their licenses cancelled by the end of April, jeopardizing the studies of hundreds of students.

Talking to the media persons the directors of many private schools said that they had applied for recognition many months before but the District Education Officer and the District Project Coordinator have been intentionally keeping the files pending. The directive by the Director of Rajya Shiksha Kendra to all the DEOs and DPCs states that education is the basic right of every child and recognition must be granted to deserving schools so that students do not suffer and the process must be completed immediately so that they donot lose an academic year.

The directive also states that directions will soon be issued to all recognized schools regarding the procedures to be followed while giving admissions to financially and otherwise backward students, hence the need for speeding up the recognition process. The director also warned the DEOs and DPCs that strict action will be taken if the process is not completed by the 31 March 31.

Despite making repeated enquiries at the offices of the DEO and DPC no clarification was given regarding the delay in granting recognition.
