
The no-confidence motions moved by two key parties from Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the YSR Congress Party, were not taken up in Lok Sabha during the ongoing Budget session on Monday following the adjournment of the House till Tuesday. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House for the day amid constant sloganeering and noisy protests by the members of the House. The motions were to be taken after Question Hour had the House been in order.
The TDP, which recently walked out of the alliance it had with the BJP-led NDA government over the Centre’s refusal to grant special status to Andhra Pradesh, has pushed for notices to two no-confidence motions against the government; the YSRCP is pitching for one. Proceedings in Rajya Sabha were also adjourned owing to protests by TDP members over special status to Andhra Pradesh and AIADMK’s protest over Cauvery issue.
While CPI(M) and Congress have pledged support to the no-confidence motion against the Modi government, BJP’s ally in Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena, would abstain from voting. The government has expressed confidence that the notices, even if they are admitted, will be defeated given its strength in Lok Sabha.

TDP's no-confidence motion has put an end to the "myth" that the NDA govt has an unshakable mandate for the next 25 years, BJP's ally Shiv Sena said. The Sena, however, alleged that the TDP's move was driven by its own political compulsions, and said the no-confidence motion will be futile as the NDA government enjoys a majority.

Parliament has become a laughing stock because of repeated adjournments due to protests from Well of the House, Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu said in the House today. “This is not in the interest of the country, this is not in the interest of Parliament,” he said asking members to allow the House to function.
As the protesting parties displayed placards in support of their demands, he said he is willing to allow discussion on all the issues being raised. The government, he said, too is willing to discuss and “so where is the problem?” “How long will this continue. People have already starting criticising (Parliament functioning),” he said before adjourning the proceedings till tomorrow.

As far as the Left parties are concerned, we will be supporting the no confidence motion. People have started expressing their no confidence in Modi Govt, its time Parliament does it too- D Raja, CPI.

The Parliament secretariat has received three notices on no-confidence motion against the government. While two are from TDP, one motion is from YSRCP. If House in order and quorum established, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan likely to bring No Confidence motion after Question Hour. A no-confidence motion notice has to be supported by at least 50 MPs to be taken up in the House.
The YSR Congress was the first to give a notice last week for a no-trust motion after the Centre made it clear that it would not grant Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.
Not to be outdone by its main rival in the state, the TDP, a longtime BJP ally, then decided to break its ties over the issue and brought a no-confidence motion of its own. Both parties have been lobbying with opposition parties for support to their respective notices.

In the wake of the no-trust vote, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ananth Kumar had ruled out any threat to the government. "I want to tell the Congress and other opposition members that there is confidence inside and outside the house. That’s why the BJP is ready to face the no-confidence motion," he said.
He said the TDP took the decision “keeping some of its issues in mind” though the Modi government generously released an additional grant of Rs 24,000 crore after the formation of Andhra Pradesh. Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday had adjourned the House despite no disruption or protest by the members. In an unusual departure from norm since the Budget Session reconvened after recess, the House listened with rapt attention as Naidu criticised members for their unruly behaviour.
