Suspects wanted in ‘cowardly’ assault of man with autism at Toronto-area bus terminal from B.C.: police

Peel Regional Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying three men who are from British Columbia after a 29-year-old man with autism was assaulted in a Mississauga bus terminal.

Police said they were called to the Square One bus terminal at around 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday with reports of a “violent” assault. In a statement, officers called the incident a “cowardly act on (a) defenceless” man.

Since releasing information on the assault Wednesday, police said officers have received multiple community tips.

“Progress has been made and investigators now have credible information that the persons responsible are originally from British Columbia, specifically the Lower Mainland area and they recently travelled to the Greater Toronto Area,” a statement from police said Monday.

“Peel Regional Police are seeking the public’s assistance, especially on the West Coast, to view the footage and help identify the suspects responsible for this brutal assault.”

Police previously told Global News the attack may have been targeted.

“It seems as if it might have been a targeted incident just by the way the victim was attacked,” Const. Bancroft Wright said on Wednesday.

“He was sitting at the base of the steps putting on roller blades and three individuals came down the steps and went directly to him and began to assault him.”
