The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration has called for taking action against those students who illegally entered the administrative block shouting slogans on Friday while the officials were in a meeting few women students on the issue of alleged sexual harassment by one of the JNU professor.

“On the request of a few female students of the School of Life Sciences, the top administrative officials of JNU met them to hear their grievances against a faculty member of the School on 16 March. The JNU administration gave a patient hearing to their grievances and assured them full support,” said the JNU administration.

However, while the discussion was in progress with the female students, a group of slogan shouting students entered the administration building in “gross violation” of university rules and the Delhi High Court’s Ruling of a ban on any form of protest within 100 meters of administration building.

“Despite repeated requests from the security personnel not to enter the admin building, the agitators reached the venue where the meeting was in progress with the female students and started banging on the door with the loud and offensive sloganeering. The agitators did not even concede to the request of the female students to let them discuss their grievances with the JNU Administration.

It was also unfortunate that the JNU officials were threatened by the agitating students while they were sincerely trying to resolve a grievance narrated by the female students," said JNU administration.

The JNU administration has condemned the "unruly" conduct of the agitating students and called for taking action against such students according to the university rules.

The administration has appealed to all the stake holders of the JNU community to express their dissent through peaceful methods and as per the rules of the university.
