President Ram Nath Kovind today called upon IITians to aspire to achieve the best not only for themselves but also for society and the nation and world at large. Addressing the 6th Convocation of IIT Bhubaneswar in Odisha, President said, young IITians should envisage the road map to be the best in all areas, be it teaching, research, social impact or infrastructure.
He also inaugurated the Institute of Chemical Technology-Indian Oil Corporation (ICT-IOC) Bhubaneswar campus. Mr Kovind also laid the foundation stone for the Skill Development Institute of Oil PSUs, before returning to Delhi.
Earlier addressing the centenary celebrations of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan at Puri, President said, Sanskrit was the language of science, law, philosophy, in addition to spirituality. Mr Kovind said, Sanskrit is the only language which united India during the time of Adi Shankaracharya. He said, Adi Shankaracharya whose mother language was Malayalam, set up four peeths in East, West, North and South India through Sanskrit language. The President also said, famous freedom fighters like Jayi Rajguru, Utkal Mani Gopabandhu and others born in Puri, were scholars in Sanskrit.
Mr Kovind visited the Lord Jaganath Temple. He also released 1,000 rupee and 10-rupee commemorative coins on the Lord Jaganath Nabakalebar festival.
