Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani today attacked Congress president Rahul Gandhi for criticising Goods and Services Tax, GST. In a tweet, Ms Irani accused Mr Gandhi of selectively using the World Bank report to target the indirect tax regime. She said, the Congress president's hatred for India is astonishing. She said, when World Bank hailed India’s rise in Ease of Doing Business rankings, Mr Gandhi rubbished the report but now he selectively quotes the report to berate India’s progress. Earlier in tweet, Mr Gandhi had quoted World Bank as saying that GST in India is the second highest in the world and one of the most complex tax regime.
