2 in critical condition after 2-vehicle crash in DeKalb

DeKALB – Two Dunlap residents are in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash Saturday night at Route 23 and Perry Road in DeKalb, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.

Duc H. Nguyen and Kieu My Thi Nguyen, both 57 and of the 10900 block of Waterton Drive, were traveling east in a 2004 Mercedes Benz SUV about 4:25 p.m. when the vehicle failed to yield to a southbound 2012 Ford 250 truck driven by Nicole M. Henke, 44, of the 9900 block of Leland Road in Waterman, according to the release.

The truck hit the SUV on the driver's side, and the Nguyens were taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital before being flown to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, where they're in critical condition, the release said.

Henke did not need to go to the hospital, and all three people were wearing their seat belts, according to the release.

The crash remains under investigation.
