Congress party's former chief Sonia Gandhi, in a no-holds-barred speech to party workers, on Saturday seemed to be borrowing from arch rival PM Modi's flamboyant phraseology.
Seeking support for her son and new Congress president Rahul Gandhi, she said, "This party's victory will be the country's victory. This party's victory will be everyone's victory... The challenges facing the party president and all of us today are not ordinary..."
In her usual style, Sonia stuck to Hindi throughout her speech and said, "Over the last four years, the government - arrogant and dizzy with power - has left no stone unturned to destroy the Congress. It is resorting to any tactic but the Congress has never bowed before the arrogance of any government and it never will."
On Modi's dramebaazi, she said, "People have now understood that Modi's slogans in 2014 and his Mann ki Baat was nothing but drama to grab votes."
At the meet, she also underlined the significance of allies.
"At the chintan shivir in 1998, the consensus was that the Congress should not get into alliances with other parties. But in the following five years, as the political environment changed, the chintan shivir in Shimla in 2003, we decided to work along with like-minded parties. With this, we achieved in 2004 what people could never expect. We formed the government under the leadership of Dr Manmohan Singh and stayed true to our commitments," she said.
