The New Year festivals of Chaitra Sukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Cheti Chand, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba are being celebrated in different parts of the country today. The day also marks the beginning of Chaitra Navratri. President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have greeted the people on the occasion. In his message, the President said, these festivals are celebrated in a wide variety of ways in different parts of the country and reflect our diversity and yet underline the unity of the nation. He expressed hope that these festivals will strengthen the bonds of fraternity among people in various regions of the country. In his message, the Vice President said, these festivals mark the beginning of the traditional new year and reflect the composite culture and rich heritage of the country. He expressed hope that these festivals will bring prosperity and happiness in the people's lives. In his message, Prime Minister extended greetings to the people across the nation who are celebrating the start of the New Year.
