Counsellors stop suicide in Rajasthan

more-in

A newly married deaf and dumb woman, who was about to hang herself, was saved in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district via coordinated action by the local police and a counsellor couple who were in touch with her through video call from Indore.

The woman (23), who is possibly suffering from depression, searched online for the contact number of counsellors — Gyanendra Purohit and his wife Monica — and told them three days back that she wanted to end her life. Mr. Purohit also works as the State coordinator for the Muk Badhir police helpline at Indore. Ms. Monica communicated with the woman through sign language.
