Request from CID to handover Arjun Mahendran back to Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has taken steps to request the Ministry of Justice in Singapore to send the former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran back to Sri Lanka.
The CID is set to make this move after the former governor of the central bank has been issued an arrest warrant in connection with the central bank bond transaction in 2015.
The CID is set to forward the request to the ministry of Justice in Singapore through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in.
Even though former Central Bank Governor Mahendran has been requested by court twice to appear before the CID, after being named as a suspect in connection with the CBSL bond transaction, he is yet to make an appearance before the CID.
Therefore court decided to issue an arrest warrant against the former Central Bank governor on 15th of March.
