Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), the civic body which looks after the civic amenities and construction activities in the steel city, has constituted a force comprising 25 home guards. Special officer, JNAC, Sanjay Kumar Pandey said they formed the team of its own for carrying out raids on unauthorised buildings and to seal those built deviating from the approved plan.
The special officer said that the force that has been set up will be paid by the civic body and for this a separate fund allocation has been made. Sealing of building being constructed in deviation of approved plan and unauthorised construction is going side by side in the steel city by the JNAC. “We cannot comprise with the safety of market place. Moreover , people also find it inconvenience to move into the market freely with the passages getting choked due to the make-shift shops," said the official.
"We can seal the deviated portion of the building. Now we will send notice to the promoter concerned for giving an explaination as to why did he or she get the building constructed in deviation of the approved plan. Further action will depend on the reply put forward by the promoters," said the special officer who is invested with the power to demolish the building.
According to the sources, the JNAC has a long list of such buildings which have been built in deviation of the actual building plan. The process of sealing these buildings in areas like Sakchi, Bistupur, Sonari, Sitaramdera, and the process of getting such building demolished will be followed once the necessary equipment is made available to the civic body.
“We would be carrying out similar drive in different lanes and roads inside the Sakchi market regularly as part of our objective to decongest roads in the market area,” said the official.
