23 services being offered to citizens; 15 more to be added soon

The Citizen Service Centre (CSC) that began functioning at Nizamabad Municipal Corporation from March 12 has been an instant hit among people who want their grievances to be addressed immediately.

The centre, as of now, receives complaints and applications in five sections—revenue, engineering, health, town planning and sanitation. Though the response has been good, the CSC would begin full-fledged operations only after two days.

Being the second CSC in the State after the one at Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), it is manned by eight personnel who are monitored by higher authorities. It opens at 9 a.m. and functions till 6 p.m. on all days and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on holidays.

Initially, the CSC would provide a total of 23 services to citizens and add some more in the course of time. Certain grievances would be addressed within eight hours of receiving the applications. If there is any delay in addressing a problem or rendering services, the concerned officers would be penalised. Those with grievances can approach the authorities either in person or online. Application forms for different services can be obtained free of cost, while for services such as issuance of birth certificates and others, payment can be made through debit cards or cash payments can be made at the counter.

NMC Superintending Engineer Balamuni said the services being provided to the citizens include town planning, sanitation, building permission, water bill payments, water contamination, pipeline leakages, street lighting, park maintenance and issue of birth certificates. He added that 15 other services would be included soon.

Minister for Municipal Administration K.T. Rama Rao tweeted appreciating the efforts of Nizamabad Municipal Corporation in addressing the grievances of people.
