1. BENEFIT STYLE SHOW – WEDNESDAY
There is no occasion quite like the annual style show luncheon that will bring glitz and glamour to town to help Loaves & Fishes keep on giving. The 12th Annual Luncheon & Style Show is Wednesday, 11:30 a.m., at the TSTC Cultural Arts Center, 1825 North Loop 499, in Harlingen. Women from the area will be walking the runway showing off their style and elegance at this year’s fashion show. Tickets are $65. Call 956-423-1014.
2. GARDEN TOUR – WEDNESDAY
We love to see green around us, but what are those native plants we often see when we drive around? Take a Native Plant Walk Wednesdays at 10 a.m. at Qunita Mazatlan, 600 Sunset Drive in McAllen. Every month they feature a different theme, so there is always something new and interesting to explore. The fee is $3 for adults and $2 for seniors. They can be reached at 956-681-3370.
3. ALES AND TALES – SATURDAY
Get ready to drink and eat all the ale and tails you can. The Harlingen Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its Ales and Tails Fest. Participants will be able to enjoy craft beer, all-you-can-eat crawfish and live music. Partial proceeds from the event will be donated and go toward the renovation of the Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum. The event is 3 to 7 p.m. at Harlingen Arts & Heritage Museum, 2425 Boxwood, $35 in advance, $45 at the door.
4. FARMERS MARKET – SATURDAY
Come out to Downtown Harlingen on Saturday to enjoy a child friendly, pet friendly environment with live music, children’s activities, free samples and chef demos. And that’s all in addition to the fresh produce from local growers. Harlingen Farmers Market is from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 2nd Street and Tyler Avenue, next door to Harlingen City Hall.
5. WALKING TOUR – SATURDAY
Take a free trip back in time on a Downtown Harlingen walking tour. Learn which Jackson Street buildings were the mortuary, the Woolworth’s, Piggly Wiggly and much more. This 90-minute tour starts at 9 a.m. at J& Bs Café, 204 E. Jackson Ave.
