When it comes to home décor, choosing the correct flooring is key.
And like anything else, trends come and go.
“Color is always an important factor,” said Alicia Scarpone, marketing manager at Abbey Carpet and Floor in Center Township, a sponsor of The Times’ Home and Garden Show. “Right now people are ‘de-beiging’ their homes and bringing in tones of gray, as well as soft taupes.”
Abbey Carpet and Floor will have a booth at the show, with plenty of samples for guests to browse through. “We’ll have a mix of hardwood, tile, and luxury vinyl tile (LVT), which continues to be the fastest growing segment in flooring.” Another popular new look is hardwood flooring in grays, whites and mixed multi-species, she added.
Customers today are plugged in to the current trends. “Remodeling shows and the Internet have given homeowners the courage to try something new,” Scarpone said. “Inspiration is everywhere.” She recommends connecting with Abbey Carpet and Floor on Facebook, Houzz, and Instagram to keep up with the latest looks in flooring.
The business first served Beaver County in downtown Monaca, when David and Elaine DeLuco opened the Heritage Place Gallery of Floors in 1992. When they moved to their current 20,000 square foot building in Center Township, they reopened as Abbey Carpet and Floor.
Their store is conveniently located off the Center exit off Interstate 376, allowing them to serve areas from Moon Township to New Castle and beyond.
Customers often don’t realize the store carries many items besides carpet, notes Scarpone. “We have an extensive assortment of hardwood, ceramic and LVT,” she said. “Many people are also surprised to know that over 50 percent of our business comes from commercial projects. We work with healthcare, churches, large retailers, schools and universities.”
