Five civilians killed in Pakistan shelling in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch

“Pakistan Army is specifically targeting civilian areas,” says a spokesman.

Five civilians were killed and two others were injured in fresh ceasefire violations in the Poonch-Rajouri sector in the Pir Panchal Valley on Sunday morning.

A Jammu-based defence spokesman said Pakistan troops fired mortar shells around 7:45 a.m. in Balakote Sector in Mendhar, Poonch.

“Pakistan Army is specifically targeting civilian areas,” said the spokesman.

Initial reports suggest that five civilians were killed in a mortar shell explosion in Devta Sargloon village in Mendhar.

The deceased have been identified as Mohd. Ramzan (35), Malika Bi (32), Abdul Rehman (14), Mohd. Rizwan (12) and Razaq Ramzan (7).
