Osmania University will start offering dual degree courses in partnership with the University of Missouri, St Louis (UMSL), USA, from the ensuing academic year. This was decided in a video conference between OU Vice-Chancellor S. Ramachandram and UMSL officials.
Prof. Ramchandram said, under the partnership, four courses would be offered — MS Chemistry (Integrated 3+2) with three years in OU and two years in UMSL; MS Computer Science - B Tech (4+1) with four years in OU and one year in UMSL; MA Communication (two years) with one year each in OU and UMSL and two-year MBA course, also with one year each in OU and UMSL.
Forty students, 10 each from the four courses, will get an opportunity to study in Missouri University. OU is currently working on the modalities. The Vice-Chancellor said UMSL is also interested in bringing its courses in criminology and criminal justice and in optometry to OU, a statement from the varsity said.
The Deepak Vyas Foundation will partially fund the students and is also keen on setting up an endowment fund.
Thomas F George, Vice-Chancellor of UMSL; Neeta Bhushan, Consul General of India – Chicago; Joel N Glassman, Director-International Studies and Programmes, Missouri University and Deepak Kant Vyas, Indian American Business Entrepreneur, participated in the video conference. Dr. Srinivasulu, IQAC Coordinator, and Prof. K.Narender, Director, EMMRC were also present.
