Police to help the elderly cross road

more-in

The City police will henceforth aid senior citizens in crossing roads. District Police Chief (Thiruvanantha- puram City) P. Prakash has issued instructions in this regard to all police officers, considering the suggestions put forward by several people at a seminar organised by the City police on Friday to discuss the security and welfare of senior citizens.

Traffic police personnel, home guards and traffic wardens who have been posted on the roads from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., will give a helping hand to senior citizens to cross the road. The local police will help them in places where traffic police are not posted. The senior citizen help-desk in all police stations will be made efficient.

Helpline

A four-digit helpline number will soon be made available for senior citizens to register complaints.
