Two people extricated after two-vehicle DeKalb crash

Two people were transported to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital after a two-vehicle crash on Saturday afternoon in DeKalb.

DeKalb Deputy Fire Chief James Zardek said the fire department was dispatched to a two-car T-bone crash at the intersection of Route 23 and Perry Road. Zardek said two people were extricated from one vehicle and taken to the hospital. A third person involved in the crash refused treatment at the scene.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office was also dispatched to the scene and confirmed that Route 23 was closed while the scene was cleared, but is now open in both direction. More details were not immediately available.
