Federer defeated Hyeon Chung in straight sets this morning to book his place in the last four of the competition.
And he will meet Coric for only the second time in his career knowing the winner will reach the final.
The Swiss star is expected to take to court at 5pm tomorrow where he will be hoping to avoid an upset as he bids to continue his 100 per cent start to 2018.
And to do so Federer wants to play aggressive tennis to take the match to his opponent.
I think I have got to be playing very aggressive tennis as much as I can
“I think I have got to be playing very aggressive tennis as much as I can,” Federer told ATP World Tour.
“In windy and swirly conditions it is not always easy but I must focus on my own serve first.
“I have to try and get opportunities in the return and then mix it up and make them come up with passing shots.

“It is pretty simple, but not always easy to do.”
Federer will break his career-record winning run with victory against Coric.
The 36-year-old will also be hoping maintain his grip on the world No 1 ranking as he has 1000 ATP points to defend in California.
