Ajay Maken says timing of apology suspicious; Cong demonstration on March 20

Following Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s apology to former Punjab Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, the Delhi Congress (DPCC) on Friday said it will hold a demonstration at the Aam Aadmi Party leader’s residence on March 20.

Alleging collusion between the two leaders, DPCC president Ajay Maken said, “On the one hand, the Special Task Force [STF] says there is sufficient evidence for further investigation against Mr. Majithia and on the other hand Mr. Kejriwal is apologising in court. The timing of the apology is suspicious. By giving the former Punjab Minister a clean chit, Mr. Kejriwal seems to be hand in glove with Mr. Majithia.”

Accusing Mr. Kejriwal of “not doing anything for the people of Delhi”, Mr. Maken added:, “He should explain to the people what kind of deal he has struck with Mr. Majithia, that he has apologised to him in court for making the charge that the former Minister was involved with the drug mafia.”

The Congress said it will demand an apology from Mr. Kejriwal for “betraying the trust of the people of Delhi”.

“Mr. Kejriwal is not doing anything apart from sitting on hunger strikes and he is bound to make such ‘apologies’ in the coming months,” added Mr. Maken.
