Rachakonda SHE teams book 51 cases against men for gender crimes, including 21 petty cases

A cabbie took advantage of his sister’s friend and reportedly had a sexual relationship with her after promising to marry her. Later, he clicked obscene photographs of the woman and threatened that he would make them public, if she did not give in to his demands.

When the woman got pregnant, 26-year-old Bandi Ram Manohar, with the help of a nurse in Gandhi Hospital got the foetus aborted.

The woman who realised that the cabbie had cheated her approached SHE teams. Based on the complaint a case of rape was registered with Medipally police and the accused was arrested and sent to judicial remand.

In a similar case, a 22-year-old ITI student had sexual relationship with a 19-year-old woman. He took obscene photographs of the victim and threatened to post them on social media and kill her parents, if she did not continue relationship with him.

The accused, identified as Varikuppala Shiva Kumar, a resident of Prasanthi hills in Meerpet also put restrictions on her clothing and life style. Frustrated with his behaviour, she lodged a complaint and Meerpet police arrested the accused. A case of rape was invoked against him and he was sent to judicial remand.

In the last three weeks, the Rachakonda SHE teams with the help of local police booked 51 cases, including 21 petty cases against eve teasers. The teams apprehended 51 eve teasers, including 38 majors in the last three weeks.

All the eve teasers attended the counselling session with their family members on Saturday, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh Bhagwat said.

Further, the SHE teams also stopped nine child marriages in the Commissionerate.
