PATIALA: A wagon of a Suratgarh-bound goods train derailed in the Nabha sub-division of Patiala district at around 6pm on Saturday after hitting a stray cattle.

An accident relief train was rushed to the spot after the station in-charge was informed about the derailment.

Train No. 113289 WDG) departed from Saharanpur and was supposed to reach Suratgarh station when the accident occurred.


DRM Ambala, Dinesh Chandra Sharma, said, “The driver of the train was alert when he saw the stray cattle around the track and had already pulled the brakes. However, one of the animal was run over following which a wagon of the train got derailed. The accident relief train was ordered to rush the spot. It was a single track and traffic was affected on the route due to the accident.”
