SAMBALPUR: The BJP on Friday staged statewide protests against the arrest of former minister and party leader
Jayanarayan Mishra in connection withthe murder of a BJD worker at Banabira under
Sohela police limits in Bargarh district. The incident had taken place on February 22, two days before the Bijepur byelection.
The BJP said
Jayanarayan has been framed andcalled the arrest politically motivated. The saffron party also demanded a
CBI probe into the incident. The BJP supporters staged satyagraha near the office of inspector general of police, northern range, here.

Rabi Naik said, "Jayanarayan was not involved in the incident. They were in an ashram when BJD workers attacked them. Jayanarayan was the first person to inform the police about the attack. The police have become puppet sin the hands of government."
He said four persons, who sustained injuries in the incident on February 22, were admitted to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (Vimsar), Burla, and they were out of danger. But one among the four was suddenly shifted to SCB in Cuttack. And later he was declared dead. "The death is mysterious. The death should be investigated by CBI," he added. He also threatened to intensify agitation and said protests will be staged in front of all the police stations across the state .
The BJD, however, said the saffron party is trying to politicise the issue.
