The American Cancer Society Chardon Discovery Shop, 102 Cherry Ave., has expanded to include the space next door to allow for a larger home goods and furniture section.

The new space opened to the public on March 16, according to a news release.

The American Cancer Society Discovery Shop program offers a resale experience, with gently-used designer apparel, quality accessories, décor, furniture, antiques, art and collectables at deeply discounted prices, the release stated.

The American Cancer Society first opened the Chardon Discovery Shop in 1988 with more than 5,000 square feet of retail space. The expansion will add 2,000 additional square feet.

The Discovery Shop currently has about 50 volunteers who donate time at the store.

The Discovery Shop also relies on community donations for its success. Donations are accepted at the shop during open hours — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturdays.
