Mumbai: The Thane Police Crime Branch on Friday arrested Advocate Rizwan Siddiqui for allegedly buying Call Detail Records of actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife illegally from a private detective who was arrested earlier in the case.
The Thane Crime Branch had earlier this month summoned the lawyer, the actor and his wife after their names came up during the interrogation of the other arrested accused.
“We picked up Adv Siddiqui from his office in Versova on Friday after he failed to respond to our summons. After being questioned, he was placed under arrest late at night,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Trimukhe, Thane Crime Branch said.
Mr. Trimkukhe added that investigations were still on to find out if Mr. Siddiqui obtained the CDRs on his own or at the actor’s behest.
