Taking the lead to bring in transparency in announcing results of the first pre-university examination, the Dakshina Kannada Pre-University College Principals’ Association will make available the results on its website http://result.dkpucpa.com on Monday.

With this new system, the results of all 38,306 I PU students of the district can be accessed on the website. The student has to enter the name of his/her college, roll number and date of birth to know the marks. “We are the first district in the State to have such a system,” said K.R. Thimmaiah, the outgoing Deputy Director of Pre-University Education (PUE), while speaking to reporters here on Saturday. He thanked the association for taking the lead in having a transparent system of announcing results.

This new system was inaugurated by Pre-University Board Director C. Shikha here on February 7.

K.K. Upadhaya, principal of S.M. Kushe PU College, who worked towards bringing out the system, said all government, aided and unaided PU colleges are linked to the new system. Following completion of the examination on February 28, lecturers evaluated the papers and entered the marks in the system. “We have carried out tests of the system. Students and their parents will not have any hassle in accessing results on Monday,” he said.

With the adoption of the new system, colleges have stopped the time-consuming process of physically carrying printout of mark-sheets to the office of the Deputy Director of PUE and get approval for announcing the results. “The process is sped up as he grants approval online,” said A. Vittala, principal of Kittel Memorial PU College, Gorigudde.

The system does not allow any alteration to the marks once its approved by the Deputy Director. There will be no cases of withholding of marks of any student by the college, which was an issue earlier, Mr. Vittala said. Students can take a printout of the marks and use it as a provisional marks card till the college issues the marks card, he added.
