North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) has launched a curriculum handbook for pre primary and nursery teachers. The curriculum would benefit 25,000 students studding in nursery and pre-primary sections schools run by the corporation.
Mayor Preety Agarwal said teacher plays an important role in nation's development. “The effort is taken to provide teachers the calendar of curriculum with monthly theme and topics. The curriculum also has details of activities involved like discussion rhyming and outdoor as well,” she said.
She further said that with the move, students of 715 schools being run by the corporation will study the same topic in a same time.
North Commissioner Madhup Vyas thanked the Mayor for initiating the move and termed the development works started by her is a source of an inspiration.
He also said that it a first and significant beginning by the Corporation. “This curriculum will provide significant education system to teachers,” he said.Vyas also said that NMC is the first corporation in the country which has developed such curriculum handbook for pre-primary and nursery teachers. 'Curriculum Handbook also has ISBN number,” he said.
Chairman of education committee Jogi Ram Jain, standing committee member Jai Prakash, members of education committee Mamta Nagpal and Bhola Nath Vij, additional Commissioner R.S Meena, Director of education department Hemant Kumar Hem and school principals and teachers from schools were also present. The function was presided over by chairman of education committee Jogi Ram Jain.
