A 22-year-old man was allegedly killed in Rohini’s Vijay Vihar on Thursday night, the police said on Friday.
The police have registered a murder case in the matter though it is suspected that the incident happened when the victim and accused were posing for selfies with a loaded pistol.
The victim has been identified as Vijay and the accused as his neighbour Chhotu, who fled the spot soon after the incident, added the police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta said, “The pistol was found at the crime scene. It appears that Vijay and Chhotu were taking selfies in a room when the weapon discharged accidentally. Vijay’s mobile phone has selfies with the pistol.”
Vijay’s family heard a gunshot on Thursday night and rushed to the room. They found Vijay lying in a pool of blood. He had a bullet injury on the back of his head. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Case registered
A case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) has been registered in connection with the case, said a senior officer. “A murder case was registered after we spoke to Vijay’s family. Raids are on to nab Chhotu,” the officer said.
