Haryana starts procurement of mustard seeds; fears allayed

Chairman, HAFED, Harvinder Kalyan on Friday said that the Haryana Government has started the procurement of mustard seed and the farmers should not panic due to the roster system, because it is for their convenience to avoid glut in the purchase centres.

Kalyan was talking to the mediapersons regarding the fear of the farmers due to the roster system.

He said that the Deputy Commissioners would prepare roster in such a way that a separate day or time would also be kept in the roster for the left out farmers, who, due to any reason, would not be able to bring their produce on the designated day in the roster.

The days would be conveyed in advance to the farmers by way of munadi in the villages and through newspapers, he added.

Kalyan said that with a view to avoid the distress sale of mustard seed by the farmers of the State and to protect their economic interest, the State Government has started the procurement of Mustard Seed conforming to the Fair Average Quality (FAQ) specifications at the |Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 4,000 per quintal including bonus of Rs 100 per quintal from March 15, 2018.
