Chester's UWC promoted to Varsity Cup

2018-03-16 06:59

Cape Town - The University of the Western Cape (UWC) qualified for the Varsity Cup for the first time in their history.

UWC, who are coached by former Springbok wing Chester Williams, defeated the University of Fort Hare (UFH) 39-18 in Bellville on Thursday night to secure their spot at the top of the Varsity Shield standings.

The team that finishes top in the Varsity Shield automatically qualifies for the following year’s Varsity Cup, with the bottom team in the top division dropping out.

At present, the NMU Madibaz lie bottom of the Varsity Cup standings.
