Continuing previous session's sharp gain, MMTC stock surged over 8 per cent today, ahead of a board meeting to consider issue of bonus shares.
The stock jumped 8.29 per cent to end at Rs 67.25 on BSE. During the day, it soared 13.52 per cent to Rs 70.50.
At NSE, shares of the company surged 8.21 per cent to close at Rs 67.20.
In terms of equity volume, 39.42 lakh shares of the company were traded on BSE and over 2 crore shares changed hands at NSE during the day.
The stock had gained 20 per cent in the previous trading session also, adding Rs 1,550 crore to its market valuation in two days.
In a filing to BSE on Wednesday, the company said, "the Board of Directors of MMTC shall consider and approve the proposal for issue of bonus shares subject to consent of the President of India in its meeting to be held on March 19, 2018".
