Allahabad: Members of all India Akhara Parishad held an important meeting at panchayti bada udasi akhara, Kdyganj, on Friday. After a marathon meeting, members of the parishad, while showing their dissatisfaction over the state government's ongoing preparation for organising Kumbh 2019, have laid certain demands failing which the parishad has threatened to boycott the ‘shahi snan’ in the Kumbh 2019.
The parishad, citing the example of the facilities provided to the saints of 13 akhara’s during Ujjain Kumbh, has demanded that the state government should also learn a lesson from the MP government which provided food and accommodation for the saints by building ‘sant awas’ (houses of saints).

“We have decided that such a facility should be provided by the state government who has assured to cater to all the needs of the saints coming to Kumbh, failing which the saint community would boycott all the shashi snan of Kumbh 2019”, said mahant Narendra Giri, president of the akhara parishad.

The parishad members have also made it clear that if the state government fail to meet their demand, the akhara’s, coming to attend Kumbh 2019 would refuse taking any facility of the state government and as such they would derive their own mechanism to cater to the needs of the saints coming for the religious event.

The parishad has also demanded that the government, while constituting Mela Pradhikaran, have not included the members of the akhara parishad or saints, which is an insult for the saint community. “What is the use of having an authority which assures of giving help to saints, if the saint community is excluded”, questions the president of the parishad.

Commenting on the demands of the parishad, commissioner Allahabad division, Ashish Goel said, “The demands of the saints are under consideration by the government and we have assured them that there would be positive result for the same, thus, the saint community should not worry for the facilities that would be provided to them or for that matter, their other demands too”.
