The Surakarta Tourism Board is all geared up to arrange the Bengawan Solo Travel Mart in partnership with the Association of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies or ASITA. The theme of this event – “Explore the Hidden Treasures”, the Bengawan Solo Travel Mart will draw attention to Boyolali and Klaten regencies.
At the event, numerous destinations from the Laweyan Batik Village and the Loji Gandrung heritage house to the Mount Merapi-Merbabu agritourism site in Boyolali, will be endorsed, starting from March 16-18th.
“We will present this year’s Bengawan Solo Travel Mart with a combination of familiarization trip and travel exchange session,” said the head of the event committee, Diah Ratna Heryati.
Organized in the Central Java city, annually, the travel mart is about to enter its ninth edition. The tourism possibility of numerous provinces regencies, like Karanganyar, Sragen, Sukoharjo and Wonogiri as well as Surakarta, will be showcased at the event.
“Bengawan Solo Travel Mart is a way for Surakarta to reach the top in world tourism,” said Diah.
Diah went on to explain that in 2017, travel mart lured over 80 buyers and 60 sellers from different cities like Balikpapan, Cirebon, Jakarta, Makassar, Malang and Surabaya. Foreign participants came from countries like the Netherlands, Cambodia and Myanmar.
Among this year’s buyers, various travel agencies, insurance firms, banks, pharmaceutical companies and MICE-based event organizers will be seen. The travel mart will host a tour in and around Surakarta, Klaten and Boyolali for buyers and journalists. One day of the event would be especially dedicated to a meeting between buyers and sellers, ideal for them to share insights and strategies to everyone.
