Grand opening celebration set for March 23

Crews are putting the finishing touches on an $8-million overhaul of the Palm Coast Community Center, which has spent the past 13 months undergoing renovations that more than tripled its size.

The 40-year-old complex at 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE has been closed since February 2017, when the makeover began. The old 7,000-square-foot center was demolished and replaced with a 21,000-square-foot reincarnate. The new and improved Community Center includes four multipurpose meeting rooms, including a 5,039-square-foot main ballroom suitable for weddings and receptions, and a nearly 3,400-square-foot meeting room for events and group activities.

The outdoor has been reconfigured to make room for an expanded parking lot that grew from 64 to 115 spaces. The basketball court was relocated to the back corner of the facility, next to the playground, which now features new age-appropriate equipment. An outdoor patio area was also added which city officials hope to host small concerts.

A grand opening for the revamped center is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 23. Residents are invited to tour the grounds of the 5-acre campus and get a special guided tour of the expanded Community Center’s new interior.
