Nurses all set to organise protest in Mumbai

Pune: A protest will be organised on March 21 at Azad Maidan, Mumbai, by Maharashtra Government Nurses Federation to fulfil their demands and ask the government to implement the rules made for nurses, which were made by the government.

Anuradha Athavle, president of the federation, said, “There are several rules which are formulated but not implemented by the government. We have conducted several protests before for the same, but the government is still ignoring our voices. Also, we had not conducted any indefinite strike before, keeping in mind, our patients. But, if the government doesn’t take any steps to implement the rules and listen to our voices, we are going to declare the indefinite strike on the same day of the protest.”

Athavle added that more than 500 nurses from all over the state will join the protest. The demands include no frequent transfers, filling of all vacant posts, grade pay and pre-revised pay scale of sixth pay commission and seventh pay commission, no work other than nursing and safety and security to nurses in hospitals and public places.
